Karen + Scott

Karen + Scott

Karen and Scott met when Winey Blonde Events Co. was just a dream in the making and now the company will celebrate their 6th year in business this Spring. It has been two years since their wedding day and we are so excited to finally share it with our readers.

Karen started the day with her bridesmaids and Great Pyrenees, Cosette and Einstein at the Loews hotel in Atlanta. The couples first look took place on the balcony of the hotel surrounded by the Atlanta skyline followed by photos with their pets. Everything from the ceremony and flowers down to the exact photo details were exactly what Karen had dreamt of. Her mom even incorporated a special surprise with personalized dog shaped cookies for everyone! At the end of the evening, there was one last surprise for Scott – a live performance from a fellow DJ friend singing Frankie Valli’s “Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You.” Their wedding day was an absolute dream thanks to their amazing family and team of vendors.

From the bride: When couple’s ask which wedding has been my favorite after all these years, I must say it is hard to not pick my own. We planned our wedding in less than six months and included so many of our favorite things and of course several of my closest vendors. The details to me are so important and you’ll find hints to all of the things I love in our wedding including our dogs, my favorite color, which is blue, and things that are glamorous yet timeless like roses. I love historic places and The Bilmore Ballrooms was one of the very first venues I had the opportunity to work at. I actually didn’t go on any venue visits besides there!

Thank you, Karen and Scott for sharing your day with us! Scroll on to see the lovely photos!

Sarah + James

Sarah + James

Sarah and James met on a study abroad program in London and their wedding day looks like something from a European destination you only dream of. The industrial space was the perfect backdrop for Sarah’s jewel toned color palette. Lush greenery was draped throughout the space organically by James’ sister, Jennifer, who created arrangements that are a true form of art. Sarah’s wedding dress was the ultimate showstopper with an intricate lace pattern which created a dramatic and timeless look. Karina Sely captured every moment of this wedding perfectly, from the couple’s sweet first look to the epic moment the couple finally had to themselves at the end of the night!

S+J-1.jpg

How they chose their venue: James and I looked on the knot for days at literally every venue in Georgia. Cherry Hollow Farm was the first one we decided to go look at in person and we were sold! It is one of the most unique spaces we'd seen and we loved how the entire venue was made of reclaimed materials and pieces of other buildings. It just has such a cool history and we loved the industrial feel and how the buildings are set up to let you flow naturally through each space. It was a gorgeous setting for a wedding!

Thank you, Sarah and James for sharing your day with us! Scroll on to see the lovely photos!

From the bride: James' sister, Jennifer, was our florist and did an amazing job, she was almost 9 months pregnant at the time of the wedding and never once complained about helping because she's a literal angel She went to school for art (specifically painting) and I think her artistic abilities show through in every medium she touches because the flowers were absolutely stunning. She had her baby, Nora Yvonne, 2 weeks later and both are doing great!

From the bride: My favorite part of the wedding day was probably the moment when the reception was over and everyone was lined up outside for the sparkler exit. James and I were left alone on the dance floor and this was one of the very few alone times we had all day and we just got to slow dance (probably only for 30 seconds) but it was a nice little moment to take in and just realize that WE DID IT! Everything went well and we're married! After the party was over we still had each other and that's the best part!

Jennifer + Tyler

Jennifer + Tyler

Jennifer and Tyler's wedding took place at The Greystone Estate and was recently featured on Tulled, Laced & Ruffled, so we couldn’t help but re-share this beautiful day! The couple loves horror movies and Halloween is their favorite holiday so they incorporated a little bit of that spooky spirit into their wedding day.

Jen started the day by gifting her bridesmaids trick-or-treat buckets filled with goodies inside like Halloween socks and of course some candy. She even found cute t-shirts and pajamas that were not only perfect for getting ready in, but fit the theme as well! Their day continued with slight hints to their favorite holiday including glowing pumpkins, walking skeleton toasting flutes and a Halloween dessert display that would have anyone craving something sweet. These treats were almost too perfect to eat and included Rice Krispie treats in the shape of ghosts and pumpkins, cake pops in the shape of mummies and cats and goody bags for guests to take treats home. The party didn't stop there! Their photo booth had various hats and ghoulish party accessories that the wedding party borrowed for some photo opps with the bride and groom.

This couple certainly knows how to throw a spooktacular soiree! Scroll on to see the beautiful photos!

From the bride: I had an AMAZING wedding planner, Karen, and I honestly don't know what I would have done without her. We were engaged for a year and half and had plenty of time to plan. What we didn't plan for was the loss of three very special people in our lives. I was honestly a mess during a majority of our planning because of it, but having someone like Karen to keep me focused helped so much.

Jen_TylerWedding039.jpg

The proposal: I work as a Vet Tech and he knows I love animals. We decided that we wanted to get a puppy together and we went to pick her out 2 days before my birthday. Unbeknownst to me, he was in cahoots with the family who had the puppies and planned everything out. While we were outside with our puppy I noticed that she had a dog tag on her collar. I also noticed a lady was filming us, but thought nothing of it. I remember her saying how cute it was that we already had a tag for her. Confused, I reached down to read the tag and it said, "Jen will you marry Tyler?" When I turned around Tyler was on his knee and I about died. As a funny side note, Quinn (our puppy) had just gone to the bathroom and Tyler almost put his knee on it. We still laugh about that.

Savannah + Carter

Savannah + Carter

Savannah and Carter celebrated their love with a fall-themed day that featured the most spectacular outdoor setting in Alabama that was super meaningful to the couple. They had been to that area to stay at Savannah’s parent’s lake house many trips before, so it was the perfect place to add more memories to. This ambitious couple not only took on planning a wedding while Carter was off on a Navy deployment, but also bought a puppy and moved all in the same year!

Their wedding day had that crisp feel of Fall and had a prominent color palette of burgundy, whites and natural greens. Savannah’s captivating dress was paired with an equally stunning bouquet of roses, anemone, protea and eucalyptus. This was the ultimate time of year for an outdoor wedding and nothing speaks ‘Sweet Home Alabama’ more than a country lodge surrounded by the great outdoors.

How they met and chose their venue: Carter and I met at the University of Georgia, but didn't start officially dating until after we both had graduated and moved to separate cities. After years of long distance and meeting up in different locales for weekend getaways we didn't feel beholden to any particular city for our wedding and began considering different destination wedding locations or venues in our college town.

One fateful weekend after getting a couple of quotes back from venues I was sitting at my parent's lake house with my family lamenting the fact that we already felt so out of our element planning a wedding. After listening to me explain how we wanted to get married outdoors, how we wanted it to feel private, and how we wanted the weekend to be relaxing and fun for us and our wedding party, my dad said, "well why don't you two just get married here?" The rest just fell into place after that - the following week I was connected to Karen through a coworker and she immediately got to work on helping bring our vision to life. Our big day ended up being deeply personal, full of love, and had us feeling right at home.

Thank you, Savannah and Carter for sharing your day with us! Scroll on to see the lovely photos!

From the bride: Marrying Carter was my favorite part of the wedding day, but aside from that getting ready to walk down the aisle in my parent's lake house was amazing. I felt so at at peace drinking coffee on the back porch with all my girls, like we've done on so many Saturday mornings before. It was the most relaxing way to ease into the biggest celebration of our lives.

Kaleigh + Austin

Kaleigh + Austin

Kaleigh and Austin’s Spring wedding was classic romantic filled with lots of sparkle seen in the candlelit reception. All Things Floral infused the classic look with the bride’s soft purple and pink palette, an abundant of roses and floating candles. Kaleigh’s dress was the true showstopper, with a beautiful lace design that she also incorporated into her wedding cake. All of these things brought together a timeless look that we are hopelessly in love with.

A & K Wedding-1.JPG

From the bride: I have always loved springtime and pastels, which served as the inspiration for my wedding color palette. I incorporated dusty lavender and blush into the details such as the flowers and bridesmaid dresses, while also adding in charcoal gray and gold touches for contrast. I knew I wanted an elegant, romantic look, which inspired the many floating candles scattered around the room during the reception. My wedding dress served as the inspiration for my cake, as I tried to mimic the lace I loved so much on my dress on the cake frosting.

Some love for our planners from the bride: Where do I begin? Winey Blonde Events was nothing short of AMAZING from beginning to end. We opted for the full wedding planning option and Ashley was by our side every step of the way for 1.5 years! Right from the start, she totally understood our wedding vision and executed it way beyond our expectations. She constantly went above and beyond to ensure that every last detail had been planned, all while keeping us calm along the way. She was always professional, kind, and so easy to communicate with. During our wedding weekend, she and Alyssa kept everything running so smoothly and ensured that we had the time of our lives without having to worry about anything. There truly aren’t enough incredible things to say about Ashley. Overall, I would HIGHLY recommend Winey Blonde Events for any of your wedding planning needs!

How they met: It was freshman year spring break on Panama City Beach when Austin and I met for the first time. After spring break, we went our separate ways until three years later. One week before my AOPi Sorority Senior Formal, my date had to cancel. I began thinking through the options for potential dates when Austin came to mind. With the help of our mutual friend, Amy, I decided to invite Austin to the formal. He didn’t have a tux so he didn’t think he could attend. As fate would have it, my brother, Jeremy, was a freshman at University of Alabama and had a tux that was the perfect fit for Austin! After having an amazing evening at formal, we went on a date the next day, which turned into another and then eventually into love. Two years later, Austin brought me back to the exact spot on Panama City Beach where we first met each other and asked me to be his wife.

Danielle + Blake

Danielle + Blake

Danielle and Blake’s wedding was an extra special treat for us to coordinate because our owner went to high school with the bride! Although planning from a different state can seem impossible, with the help from our team and the mother of the bride this day was flawless. The peach and white wedding was even more gorgeous than we could have imagined, with subtle pops of color and special details that made the reception so unique. From the tented garden ceremony to the ballroom reception that was bursting with blooms and lavish draping, this wedding was charming and elegant. Their wedding was also quite the party thanks to Atlanta Wedding Band keeping everyone on their feet until midnight!

From the bride: My favorite part about our wedding day was getting to celebrate and dance the night away with family and our closest friends! Having you and your team there was another favorite of the day! All we had to think about was each other. You and your team did a great job to ensure that everything would run smoothly, on time, and all would be taken care of. Our day was made so special, simply because we could focus on each other and how beautiful the entire experience was.

“You and your team did a phenomenal job communicating with me and the staff at Country Club of the South to make our day something that we’ll never forget, and that always brings a smile to our faces. It’s still a day that our friends even bring up and discuss the amount of love and fun felt at our wedding. We couldn’t have done it without you and the Country Club of the South!”

How they met: Blake and I met in Jacksonville through some mutual friends. They knew we attended the same gym and set us up. No heavy lifting required, we hit it off immediately. On our wedding day we incorporated some unique mementos like a small picture of my late father in my bouquet. Our live band had us rocking all night, and the menu prepared by the country club was out of this world, including the late night snacks and strong drinks!

Clare + Kyle

Clare + Kyle

Clare and Kyle’s wedding at Kaya Winery showcased every bit of Georgia’s natural beauty. The dreaminess of the venue’s backdrop was enhanced with a dusty blue and white palette that complemented the natural tones perfectly. The couples vision came to life thanks to the beautiful work from Holland Daze and they were able to enjoy their day with our planner Brittany by their side. Marc and Anna captured all of the candid moments including the couple’s first look, which was one of Clare’s favorite parts of the day.

“I grew up spending summers in the English countryside visiting family.  I’ve always been a sucker for rolling green hills, wedge wood blues and rustic elegance.  Kaya was the perfect venue for me to set this scene for my wedding.”

5Z6A4152.jpg

“Brittany was wonderful to work with during the planning process and for our wedding. She truly put my mind at ease every time I met with her. She's a perfect balance of calm yet organized and attentive. Brittany’s wedding assistant, Faith, was also very sweet and helpful. I really felt like I could let loose the night of the wedding with these two on my team. It was one magical night!”

Kristin and Joe’s wedding held at Little River Farms was uber romantic and filled with colorful shades of pink. The lakeside celebration took place under a stunning gazebo filled with hydrangeas, garden roses and touches of greenery. The couple first met over an ice cream date and with summer arriving what could be a sweeter treat to serve your guests than ice cream paired with some delicious cake?! Every delicate detail and intimate moment shared between the newlyweds on their most special day was perfectly captured by Paper Lilly Photography.

Tanya + Donnie

Tanya + Donnie

Every detail of Tanya and Donnie’s wedding day exuded elegance with modern notes. Full white floral arrangements with splashes of airy blues and rich golds were balanced with geometric shapes and clean lines. From the bride’s stunning ballgown to the sleek black and gold menus with crisp gold flatware-this interior designer left no room for error. Tanya was a wedding planner’s dream bride and even made a 3D model of what she envisioned for wedding day!

“Wedding decor was very important to me and I spent a lot of time researching and brainstorming different ideas. When I first started out, I was clueless about weddings and by the time the concept design was finished I felt like a real-life wedding planner! I am an interior designer, so I definitely used my passion for modern style and mixed it with elegance and bohemian notes.”

Piper_0024.jpg

“I spent a lot of time creating a team of vendors to work with and I am glad I did. I had one amazing team of professionals who were guiding me through this process and when the day came, all my design concepts came alive. No surprises, everything was exactly as I envisioned. I couldn't be more grateful for their hard work and support. In the end, I would definitely suggest to do your research as much as you can. There are many amazing ideas out there but you shouldn't forget about your budget. And, go with your gut - everyone will try to give you an advice but never forget that it's your day!”

From the bride: One of the most precious moments was when we were reading each other vows without seeing each other. I was so nervous, my heart was jumping out of my chest and I could hardly breath. Then I took Donnie's hand and...magic happened. I felt safe. I noticed that he was also very nervous, but he did his best to give me that strength and sense of protection just by holding my hand. As I read his letter I couldn't believe that today was the day I would marry this kind, loving, smart and silly human that I had waited for since I was a little girl. And then, I heard him crying... I've never seen Donnie cry before and it made such a great impact on me. It was one of the most special moments and I am so happy that we got to experience it!

Blair + Nathan

Blair + Nathan

Blair and Nathan just celebrated their one year anniversary and we are so excited to relive their wedding day! All Things Floral, which is owned by Blair and her mom, created all of the lush arrangements making every detail extra special. Beyond the personal touches Blair worked very hard on, the couple wanted to make sure their guests had a great time which was no problem thanks to D Street Entertainment! They had all 200+ guests on their feet the entire night!

From the couple’s sweet first look down to the tapestry that included lyrics from their first dance song, Kelsey Tice Photography, was there to capture every moment of this wedding!

From the bride: My favorite thing that took place on our wedding day was our reception. There is no greater feeling than being in a room full of so many people who have been a friend, family member or mentor throughout your life celebrating such a memorable day. Being announced as husband and wife and hearing everyone cheer as you walk into the room for the first time is just so surreal. It truly is a moment you will never forget as you're surrounded by each and every person who are your biggest supporters.

Sara + Judson

Sara + Judson

In June 2017, I received a call from a bride who lived in California and wanted to plan her wedding in Georgia. Sara had all kinds of ideas, but the main one that stood out was that she wanted her horse who lived in Georgia, to be in the wedding. As an avid animal lover, I was of course intrigued (I mean a horse in a wedding…yes, please!) and excited to get started. We spent the next year planning mostly from afar, but luckily Sara was able to make the trip to Georgia a few times with her mom and Judson.

Sarah and Judson’s wedding was held on a sunny November day at Foxhall Resort & Sporting Club, which is one of the few venues that would actually allow Sara’s horse, Pro, in the wedding! Their wedding tied equestrian themed details in a truly refined and elegant way. From their invitations with mini horse shoes, to the place settings that were all individually painted to match each other-no detail went unnoticed. Sara’s ethereal gown, a beautiful show horse wreathed in flowers, and table numbers with different photos of Sara and Judson’s pets are just a few of our favorites. Burnt gold details are paired with a taupe and burgundy palette for this elegant affair. Oh, and did we mention there is a horse shoe ice sculpture?

Sarah and Jon’s wedding at Kaya Winery had all the elegance of a fairytale with hints of southern charm that made it truly exceptional. Eden + Daniel

Eden + Daniel

Eden and Daniel’s wedding anniversary is coming up and we couldn’t help but reminisce on this special day. They chose to hold the ceremony at Big Canoe Chapel and the reception at The Chimneys, which has always held a special place in our hearts. There is just something about the Fall that seems so magical and romantic it’s no wonder it is one of the most popular time of year to be married in. From white mini pumpkin accents to colorful red leaves in the North Georgia mountains, everything about this wedding reminds us of the beauty the Fall and Big Canoe has to offer.

Adrienne + Keller

Adrienne and Keller’s wedding was planned in just six months! The ceremony was held at Druid Hills Baptist Church, while the reception was held at The Venetian Room. Adrienne made sure to incorporate very special moments into their wedding day including a first look with her dad and a dress reveal to her bridesmaids.

With over 200 guests we knew this reception was going to be a great time! Guests enjoyed lots of dancing and wonderful food such as Gouda Mac and Cheese and Mini Chicken and Waffles. (Need I say more?!)

Susana + CJ

Susana + CJ

Susana and CJ's dreamy vineyard wedding has truly enchanted us. (And it's not just the wine talking, I promise!) Guests traveled to the North Georgia mountains for this meaningful event. The ceremony took place in St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, while the reception was held at Kaya Vineyard. Susana was absolutely stunning in her lace trumpet gown, and her bridesmaids perfectly complimented her in their soft lilac gowns. Susana's dreamy bouquet from The Giving Bloom paired beautifully with her dress and the lush green vineyard.

“I had many ideas for my wedding day, but a lot of ideas meant a lot of DIY projects. Some were crazy, others not so much, but Brittany encouraged me and helped all the way. I couldn’t have done it all without her help. Britt made me feel confident that at the end of the day everything would be perfect. The weather, the décor, the ambiance, it was all beautiful and exactly the way I pictured." - Susana

Vineyard Wedding Ideas

Each and every detail of the reception made for a memorable, heartwarming event. Guests were able to enjoy wine straight from the vineyard, but the beautiful sunset views really swept guests away.

The sunsets at Kaya are stunning! We wanted to take pictures of the sunset so we planned to take them during dinner. The plan was to sneak out for 10 minutes while everyone was eating. However, everyone started running to the sunset to take pictures because it was so beautiful! All of a sudden we were all taking pictures and having a good time. It’s moments like that you can’t plan for but are so perfect! Britt still managed to follow our timeline and made sure that everything ran smoothly. Through the whole planning process she was friendly, sweet, and made feel relaxed. Thank you Britt for everything you did to make our wedding day so special!! - Susana

Bruna + Jordan

We are hopelessly in love with Bruna and Jordan's colorful May wedding! Bruna wore a dreamy BHLDN gown with floral appliqué that created the perfect harmony next to Jordan's dapper suit. Their families traveled far and wide to celebrate this momentous occasion at Lake Lanier which was a magnificent backdrop for this outdoor wedding. The couple incorporated their Jewish and Brazilian heritage into the ceremony having two officiants preside over the service. One of which spoke Portuguese, and included a blessing over wine to represent the life that they will share and create together.

After a magnificent display from Lake Lanier Island's catering it was time for a toast from the father of the bride. The father speaking only Portuguese needed help from Bruna's bridesmaids to translate. It was so elegantly translated that the heart warming message from the father had everyone in tears. After the toast it was on to the most important meal of the night, dessert. The lavish dessert table was bursting with Brazilian brigadeiros and colorful florals designed by Chairish Your Design. Their wedding was a splendid blend of traditions and bright colors!

Summer Wedding Trends

Summer is officially here and so are those Summer temps (whew!). Bright colors, fun drinks and desserts-that's what Summer is all about right? There are so many options to choose from and although we won't be able to change the temperature outside we do have a few trends that will help you beat the heat.

Blacktrux_weddingtrends_eats_v01.jpg

REFRESHING BEVERAGES

Popsicles, champagne, mojiotos OH MY! Who wouldn't want one of these as they get ready for your wedding festivities? As a general rule we recommend you keep your guests in mind since they too will be dealing with those extra high temps! If you are having an outdoor ceremony, consider having a refreshment station or creative signature drink available pre-ceremony.

Summer drink.jpg
Summer cart 2.jpg

COOL TREATS

When it comes to your menu, think of something refreshing like an Island Shrimp and Pineapple Skewer or Cucumber Melon shown here from Talk of the Town. Hot items may sound desirable at a tasting, but keep in mind that your guests may not enjoy something hot during your cocktail hour.

Summer menu.jpg
Cucumber melon.jpg

Your desserts should also play on this Summer theme! Think of lighter flavor cakes such as strawberry, pineapple-upside-down cake or our new favorite from Cake Envy fruit pebble cupcakes (YUM)!

BRIGHT COLORS

We've seen a lot of neutrals this year so it's time to add that pop of color! Roses come in all different colors and are a great Summer flower compared to others that may not do well in the heat. If you like greens, but are tired of seeing Eucalyptus try Sword Fern or Italian Ruscus. These greens offer deep warm tones that look great by themselves or with pops of color among them like this bouquet from Blooming Hites.

KEEP IT COOL

Our ladies out there have it easy-whether your style is boho or modern, floral or stripes there is bound to be a Summer dress for you. But what about the guys? Finding the perfect Summer outfit can be tough! Thankfully (you can sigh with relief) there is a great rental company called The Black Tux. They have all kinds of rental options for your guy whether they need the entire outfit or just parts! We love their light grey or tan suits for Summer weddings.

We hope you found these trends and our inspiration shoot to be helpful and we can't wait to see what you come up with for your own Summer wedding!

Shiela + David

Shiela and David's wedding at The Greystone Estate incorporated plenty of personalized details that can be seen throughout their invitations and place settings. The couple took full advantage of the charming venue, despite some rain in the forecast, and were still able to use the lake setting for their first look and portraits. Their color scheme followed a general spring theme of creams, whites, pinks and greens.

From the bride: Wedding planning went smoothly because we had a little over a year to prepare which allowed us to enjoy the process more. I had family and friends help with the planning, but really appreciated my then fiance's help throughout it all. Although we initially weren't sure what to expect from a wedding coordinator, we were pleasantly surprised with Ashley. I was able to visualize the wedding through her  and because of her experience she was able to give me input and suggestions. I loved how quickly she responded to my emails and how patient and kind she was throughout the process. She was a great help and I can't imagine our wedding day going so smoothly without her.

Brittany and Jay made their wedding dreams come true in the heart of Atlanta at The Piedmont Room & Garden Tent. Their ceremony was set with a beautiful skyline of the city and hanging carnations as their backdrop. While the weather was iffy that day, we were still able to have their first look at the Dogwood Bench in Piedmont Park which is where Jay proposed to Brittany!
